Alex Botnik is an adventurer from the 1930's who traveled around the world with his Pilot partner in search of treasure and history. He eventually died in 1940 while on a mission to Mexico to recover the Golden Sun Disc, yet he first appeared in the puzzle book The Lost Temple by Anna Knight.

Physical Description[]

Alex Botnik is clean-shaven with a head of dirty blond hair. He wears a dark gray button-up shirt with two pockets, a brown belt, two revolvers, and olive green pants. When he emerges from the plane wreckage, his face is covered with cuts that are bleeding out.

Characteristics[]

A famed explorer who traveled the world, Alex Botnik has been heralded as a war hero and an adventurer who has battled monsters, Nazis, and bandits for the world’s rarest treasures. None of this is true, but what is true is that, overcome with Egyptomania when Howard Carter discovered King Tutankhamun’s Tomb in 1922, Alex Botnik dropped out of high school at the age of 14 and traveled to Africa, hoping to make a name for himself. There, he met a British Aviator whom he fell for and was inseparable from for the rest of his life (the legends never mention that Alex was a homosexual). They travelled the world together, searching for rare artifacts and contributing to the field of Anthropology, a rarity for the time when people like Jake Raines would do so just for the fame. On their last trip together, their plane was caught in a storm in the Yucatan Peninsula during an expedition to find the Golden Sun Disc and flower Curus Miraculus and crashed. Alex died shortly afterwards in the presence of his life-long partner.

Before Mustache Maniacs Film Co.[]

Alex Botnik is, unbelievably, a character who originated from the LEGO Adventurers theme. He never appeared in any of the LEGO sets, but he does appear in the puzzle storybook The Lost Temple by Anna Knight. He's never seen in the book, but he does appear via a radio transmission at the beginning of the book, who gives Johnny Thunder, Pippin Reed, and Dr. Kilroy their mission to beat Senor Palomar to the Golden Sun Disc. Throughout the book, he leaves clues to help the Adventurers recover the Sun Disc.

Appearances[]

Trivia[]

  • Alex Botnik is only the second Mustache Maniacs Film Co. character to be recognized as homosexual. The first was Cam Attaway, who first appeared in Alpha Team: Mission Deep Jungle.
  • In a bit of role reversal, this character is dead during most of the events of Johnny Thunder and the Trail of Botnik, even though he's still alive in The Lost Temple. On the other hand, Sir Charles Farr from the puzzle storybook The Curse of the Mummy featured him as long-dead, even though Johnny Thunder and the Trail of Botnik casts him as still alive.
