Hieroglyphs Quest is an unreleased game that was intended to be included with the DVD version of Johnny Thunder and the Gift of the Nile. However, it was not included due to technical issues and limitations. Many of the assets that made up this game were later recycled for The Lost Ruby: An Interactive Adventure.

Contents Edit

As this game was not released, there are no official contents for this game. However, since much of this game was recycled for The Lost Ruby: An Interactive Adventure, much of that game is the same for this one.

There are a few notable changes, however. First, the game started with Dr. Kilroy teaching the player how to use a feature not included in the re-boot: translating hieroglyphics. Just like The Lost Ruby, the game also contained three levels, where the player must find the treasure. However, the third level was actually a cavern filled with teasers for Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients. Leaving the cavern ended the game.

Features and Game Play Edit

The game works just like The Lost Ruby: An Interactive Adventure, with a few changes. The most notable is the fact that all of the clues would be in hieroglyphics and would need to be translated. The beginning would feature Dr. Kilroy teaching players how to use this feature.

Navigating around the game and selecting objects to investigate works exactly the same way. Highlighting arrows allowed the player to navigate the tomb and clicking silver circles would trigger cut scenes. Some of these cut scenes would kill off the player, sending them back to the beginning.

Selecting Re Gou at the end would teleport Johnny Thunder and the player to a cave, which was filled with teasers for Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients. Moving around the cave worked the same way. At the end of the cave, a jewel would send players back, ending the game.

Trivia Edit

  • This game was loosely inspired by The Adventure Company video game The Cameron Files: Pharaoh's Curse.
  • Most of the assets featured in The Lost Ruby: An Interactive Adventure were originally created for this game.
