Ten Years of Going Crazy! is the official celebration of Mustache Maniacs Film Co.'s tenth anniversary and featured a wide array of film releases and more, including the celebrated conclusion to the Johnny Thunder Trilogy.

Development History

In the Fall of 2012, around the same time that New Friends ~ An Environmental Fable went into production, Andrew Bermudez and director Raul Flores would also talk about future projects while car-pooling. Most of these talks resulted in the creation of Project U and Legends of the Universe, but Andrew would occasionally mention that 2014 was the tenth anniversary of Mustache Maniacs Film Co. and that he was in the early stages of its planning, most of which was the release of Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients. However, with New Friends ~ And Environmental Fable needing attention, this celebration was put on the back-burner.

Planning on the celebration resumed in June of 2013, right after the debuts of both New Friends and A Friend of the Police. Most of these plans hinged on the release of Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients, but other plans, such as giving the fans the opportunity to make birthday cards, were tossed around until they were made to be logistically possible. It was also decided around this time that the previously-announced The Second Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Fan Choice Awards would become part of the promotion.

The promotion was officially announced on July 10, 2013, which also announced all of the promotion's content, including all of the planned film releases and how the other on-going promotion, From the Vaults, would be integrated into the promotion. Later that same year, release dates were finalized.

On January 16, 2014, shortly after the new year began, the promotion officially began with news of the celebration's schedule being re-shuffled. While two scheduled remakes, Speeder and Legoettes Take Manhattan, were cancelled, the first piece of celebratory media, the Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Music YouTube Channel, debuted on January 21, 2014 as the home for original music compositions.

In February, the news first broke of a new, perpetual partnership with the writers of BZPower's DINO ATTACK RPG on the 12th. Originally for the now-defunct play set adventures, the partnership was actually for Project U, which was announced on February 21. This announcement was held at The Second Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Fan Choice Awards, which debuted that same day. At this awards ceremony, the award-winning New Friends ~ An Environmental Fable claimed many awards, including best picture. On the 25th, Archive Collections began on the Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Press Room, which featured a year-long look behind the scenes.

After some work in March, including the re-release of Indiana Jones and the Secret of the Leopard's Treasure, April saw the release of Mustache Maniacs Film Co.: The First Ten Years, as well as the Project U-Build Play Set Adventures, as April 18 is officially the birthday for the company as a whole. April and May also brought about some more Archive Collections, as well as some sneak peeks.

June saw the conclusions to both Crazy Birthday E-Card Contest and Nexus Force Character Creation Sweepstakes, with the results to both being announced in early July. July also saw the introduction of online casting calls via the official website, as well as the BRAWL 2014 entry Solarum. During this time was also when the filming for Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients concluded, finishing three years of production.

August was entirely consumed by Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients, as that film was released on August 22. Because of this, the press room shared a recipe for the drink Pippin's Jungle Juice Blend, along with additional content geared towards the film. The month ended with the first successful round of casting, which filled parts for Attack of the Fifty-Foot Hamster, Alpha Team: Mission Deep Jungle, and Pharaoh's Quest: The Curse of Amset-Ra.

The Fall was filled with a plethora of production and releases. On October 24, the film True Identity was released, with Project U officially starting principal photography on September 23. Throughout the Fall, three more re-releases, Indiana Jones and the Forbidden Mayan Temple, Indiana Jones and the Egyptian Tomb, and Trip to LEGOLAND, debuted, concluding From the Vaults. At the beginning of October, Alms Pouch was also announced for a 2015 release.

The year culminated in December, with the announcements for The Kingfisher, Out of His Time, Journey to Siberia, and DINO ATTACK: Saga of a Conflict. The very last Archive Collections was a collection of favorite movie moments, and on December 21, the celebration officially ended with the release of the Christmas film Where it All Began.

Generally, the fans loved the entire celebration so much, there was already talk about how to conduct the twentieth anniversary in 2024 as early as 2015, hoping to re-capture what made Ten Years of Going Crazy! so special.

Prelude

After the celebration's announcement on July 10, 2013 until New Year's Day 2014, concept art for Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients, as well as various sneak peeks for the content featured, was aggressively shared on the press room. In addition to this, the needed work of collecting votes for The Second Mustache Maniacs Film Co. Fan Choice Awards was also carried out.

Trivia

This is the first anniversary celebration to be held online, mainly because the online network was still in its infancy during the Fifth Anniversary Celebration.
While the prospect of remaking pre-formation LEGO Studios films was dropped from this celebration entirely, this is something that has been considered in the following years.
This celebration marks the first year that Mustache Maniacs Film Co. entered BRAWL (Brickfilm Rapidly All Week Long).
Ever since its inception, Johnny Thunder and the Wisdom of the Ancients was always scheduled to be released in 2014. Only in 2013 was it officially made into part of this promotion.
